PAST EVENTS

2021 SWISH 2 SUCCESS CAMP

The annual Swish 2 Success Camp was back in full swing for camp this year. 200 youth from Shelbyville and surrounding areas attended. The camp, led by AJ Slaughter, was held at the Martha Layne Collins High School and was also sponsored by local businesses and families.

The camp was broken into two sessions like the previous year because of how eventful it was. Campers participated in skills development, practiced the fundamentals of basketball, performed in a friendly dance battle with each other, and heeded advice from coaches on how basketball has impacted their lives. There were also three special guest appearances from former college basketball players.

In addition to the many events that happened at camp that day, six campers were given a chance to go home with more than just memories of fun and hard work when he was announced as they were winners of our annual Hot Shot, Free Throw, and Dance-Off Contests.

There was time for more than just fun in our camp. The campers learned about the importance of teamwork, making good choices on and off the court, opining about their own personal goals for their future, and understanding that hard work pays off no matter what you want to accomplish in life.

We are happy to have the opportunity to host our Basketball Camp each summer, and we look forward to seeing the kiddos at each session.

2nd Annual Back 2 School Bash
2nd ANNUAL BACK 2 SCHOOL BASH

We couldn't have had such a successful Back 2 School Season without the help and the generous donations from our sponsors. This year, we were able to expand our reach to include more schools in our community. Throughout the month of August, we were able to host a couple events around Back 2 School. Our first event, held at Daniel Field, was aimed to help students get ready for the upcoming school year. We had bouncy houses, basketball games, face painting, and a cookout while we handed out book bags filled with supplies. We partnered with Clay Street Baptist Church to host a cookout with the community in the Martinsville area. In addition to distributing book bags filled with supplies to the schools, we were invited to be a part of Painted Stone Elementary & Marel C. Moorman Middle School's back-to-school nights. With the generous contributions from our sponsors, we were able to purchase and fill 600 book bags for our youth to have a successful school year! We are so thrilled to be partnering with the schools in the community to ensure the youth of Shelbyville are equipped with the tools necessary for a great school year!
